If you are thinking about having counselling, then the chances are you are struggling and you are wondering where to turn to for help. Counselling provides a safe, confidential and supportive space for you to talk about your problems, concerns, or experiences with a trained professional, such as myself.
I am a fully qualified counsellor, trained in an integrative approach combining person centered, psychodynamic and cognitive approaches. I work with adults of all ages, genders, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations, and specialize in individual and relationship counselling. No two people are the same, and so counselling will be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Counsellors are specially trained to listen to you intently, and non-judgmentally, asking questions to facilitate your self-exploration and to help guide you to a greater understanding of yourself, your situation, your past, or to gently help address unhelpful patterns of behavior that may be holding you back.
Having someone to support you without judgment, bias or agenda means that you are free to be truly yourself, or if this has been inhibited, to re-discover yourself. The unconditional positive regard you receive through counselling helps create a safe space whereby you can examine and process current or past issues at depth and with emotional support.
The result of this is that you feel understood, supported, empowered, you gain greater clarity and insight into yourself and your situation, and can move forward from a place of deeper understanding.
Counsellors do not tell you what to do or give advice. Instead I realise that no one is a better judge of your life or situation than you, and that given the right support you will gain the clarity you need.
To put my clients as ease, I offer a free 30 minute consultation. This allows you to meet me, discuss any questions you might have, and decide whether counselling is right for you, and whether I am the best fit.
I will ask you what has brought you for counselling, and what you would like to get from counselling, and should you choose to continue with me, then we can come up with a plan that fits in with your schedule and with what you would like to achieve.
I work with clients both short term, and longer term depending on what is needed. Sometimes clients come for counselling with one specific issue, but along the way we discover there is more to it, and more work is required, and so being flexible about the number of sessions accommodates this.
Each session will be approximately 50 minutes long and will be in my counselling room at 39 Hill Street In St Helier.
I believe that counselling should be affordable, and that income should not be a barrier to health care. With this is mind sessions cost £60, which is payable on the day of your session by cash or card.
