Carl R. Rogers
I am fully qualified and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and I hold a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling. I practice in Jersey, Channel Islands.
I have undergone further training in CBT, I hold an advanced diploma in couples psychotherapy at Level 7 (Masters level), and have further training in neurodivergence.
I am also a fully licensed and registered acupuncturist, with a bachelor of science degree in Acupuncture. I have been in practice since 2012, running a busy clinic and treating a vast array of conditions. During my first year of practice I decided I wanted to train as a counsellor in order to provide my patients with additional support, and to be better able to hold space for their trauma. I loved counselling so much, that I now split my time, supporting acupuncture patients and providing relationship and individual counselling.
I prefer to practice counselling face to face, in my private counselling room in 39 Hill Street, however I appreciate this is not suitable for some people and so online counselling is available.
I have a particular interest in relationship difficulties. Most of the problems I encounter in my individual counselling practice are founded in relationships in one form or another, whether its family, partner, friend or co-workers, and so it seemed like a natural progression for me to train in couples therapy. I use a integrative approach, and I'm a firm believer in my own development and so I continue to learn and grow, and my style as a therapist is forever evolving.
Having a formal diagnosis of ADHD myself, and being married to someone on the Autism Spectrum, I love supporting clients who are neurodivergent, whether that's through individual work, or couples who are navigating neurodiverse relationships.
I like to spend my free time in nature, running, and walking, or in the winter, throwing myself down a mountain with abandon (on ski's).
I have a very ambitious collection of books on psychological theory, which my only mission is to complete before I die. Unfortunately the collection keeps getting larger.
My hope for my clients is that they live, or learn to live in a way that is true to who they are, and that they are truly satisfied with, and that I can foster an environment where they feel deeply supported, understood, and where they can boldly go on a journey of self discovery.
Counselling isn't regulated in Jersey, and so it is really important that you choose a counsellor who is adequately trained to provide you with the support you need. Look for a counsellor who is a member of a governing body such as the BACP or UKCP as this ensures a basic level of training, and CPD, and gives you a means to complain should you need to. Please see my qualifications below, and a list of the more extensive CPD courses I have attended. All my certificates are available to see on request.
